Gods -Only the Silent Ones

Of course we’d want the silent gods.
Versus the Exodus and Genesis
When the thunder of voice
The strike of death, and the clear blade of reckoning
Descends.

Of course we’d want the silent gods
Rather than the kinder
Healing, forgiving and embracing
Weeping, weakening -tears of blood
Fall.

Of course we’d want the silent gods
Prophets and popes and puppets
Translate tome and pry open
The mouth so that their voices
Echo.

Of course!! We’d want the silent gods
So that ever crazy ideal and unfounded whim
Gains heft and depth- a weight
To crush the helpless yet visible object of our
Fears.

Of course!! We’d want the silent gods
That speak not, that hear not, that feel not
Let sorrow and evil corrupt, let purity
Be defiled by the mouthpieces’ bigotry, convinced of their
Righteousness.

Of course!! We’d want the silent gods
Who will never contradict, whose very silence
Condones, with apathy mocking the disbelief of
Bystanders at the Holocaust, inaction repeated without the faintest
Stir.

Of course. Cling to your useless gods
The delusions that permit your slacktivism, an excuse
To remain stiff and unyielding, a weapon to destroy beauty,
A source for your hate, a measure of wrath to foist suffering upon
Innocence.

Cling to your useless gods.
They remain silent.
Deaf.
Immovable.
Dead.

Cling to your useless gods.
They betrayed us
Just as they
Will betray
You.

I am artist, analyst, author, poet, composer, musician to name a few aspects of myself. A bit of a jack of trades, I dabble into many fields that encourage the blossom of imagination and allow me to channel my creativity. I dream vividly and view the world through the lens of optimism and opportunity while acknowledging the ink and shadows.
